Short Dramas in Hindi: The Global Apps Barely Offer Them, and a Wave of Indian Apps Has Moved In
None of 20,332 uploads on ten official channels of the global short drama apps is in Hindi, and only five of 12 apps list a Hindi interface. On India's App Store, Kuku TV and other local apps now compete with them.

If you want short dramas in Hindi, the big international apps are not where most of them are. Their YouTube channels post nothing in Hindi, and fewer than half of them offer Hindi even as an interface language. Indian apps have stepped into that gap, several of them in the last eighteen months.
We checked the apps’ App Store listings, the Indian App Store and every upload on ten official YouTube channels on 15 and 16 October 2026.
People are searching
Google’s keyword tool shows steady searches in India for exactly this:
| Search in India | Monthly searches |
|---|---|
| hindi short drama | 590 |
| short drama hindi | 260 |
| dramabox hindi | 50 |
| micro drama hindi | 40 |
| reelshort hindi | 20 |
The same searches barely register in the US. This is an Indian question, and it gets an Indian answer.
The global apps
Of the twelve short drama apps we track, five list Hindi among their interface languages: ReelShort, NetShort, DramaWave, ShortMax and PineDrama. The other seven do not, including the two global apps with the most ratings on India’s App Store, GoodShort and DramaBox.
An interface language means the app’s menus and buttons can appear in Hindi. It does not mean the dramas are dubbed or subtitled in Hindi, and we did not check how many are.
On YouTube the gap is complete. Across 20,332 uploads on ten official channels of these apps, none is in Hindi script and none mentions Hindi in its title. ShortMax’s multilingual channel posts in Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, German, French, Japanese and Portuguese, but not Hindi.
So “dramabox hindi” and “reelshort hindi” have no official answer on YouTube at all.
On India’s App Store
On India’s App Store, the field looks different. These are the short drama apps that came up for Hindi and micro drama searches, ranked by Indian ratings:
| App | Indian App Store ratings | On the store since |
|---|---|---|
| Moj: Short Drama & Reels | 151,243 | 2020 |
| GoodShort | 67,978 | 2023 |
| DramaBox | 55,324 | 2023 |
| Kuku TV | 35,859 | December 2024 |
| DashReels | 32,412 | 2025 |
| NetShort | 20,726 | 2024 |
| ReelShort | 14,215 | 2022 |
| DramaWave | 12,266 | 2024 |
Two things stand out:
- Kuku TV, which offers a Hindi interface, has more Indian ratings than ReelShort, NetShort or DramaWave after less than two years. Apart from Moj, it is the largest app on this list with a Hindi interface.
- Moj, a short-video app that now calls itself “Short Drama & Reels”, leads the list. It is broader than a drama app, so its ratings say more about its overall reach than about dramas.
Below them is a wave of newer local apps, all launched in 2025 or 2026: QuickTV, from the same company as Moj, Story TV, Viralo TV, Chai Shots, Bullet, and FastTV, from the media company Hungama, which names itself “Short Hindi Dramas” outright. Each has fewer than 2,000 Indian ratings so far.
Where to look for Hindi short dramas
- Start with the Indian apps. Kuku TV is the largest; QuickTV, Story TV and FastTV are newer and smaller.
- Among the global apps, try ReelShort, NetShort, DramaWave, ShortMax or PineDrama, which at least offer a Hindi interface. Check inside the app whether a series has Hindi audio or subtitles.
- Do not expect YouTube to help. The global apps’ official channels post nothing in Hindi.
For which languages the global apps do serve on YouTube, see short dramas in other languages. For English versions of Chinese series, see Chinese dramas dubbed in English.
What this does and does not show
It shows which apps offer a Hindi interface, that the global apps’ YouTube channels post no Hindi, and which apps lead on India’s App Store.
It does not show how many Hindi-language dramas each app carries. An interface language is not the language of the shows, and ratings on India’s App Store are a rough sign of reach, not a user count. Nothing on this page describes what anything costs.
What we measured
The US App Store listings of twelve short drama apps, read together on 15 October 2026, for their listed interface languages. India’s App Store, searched through Apple’s public search service on 16 October 2026 for Hindi drama, micro drama and the names of several Indian apps, with Indian rating counts and release dates. Every public upload title on ten verified official YouTube channels, 20,332 videos, read between 7 and 15 October 2026. Search volumes are average monthly searches in India from Google’s keyword planning tool.
